AN El Socorro businesswoman, on her way home from a popular Carnival show, was shot and killed while dropping a friend home early yesterday morning.

Police reports are that Fareeza Mohammed, 54, was at O'Meara Road, Arima, to drop off a friend after attending the Spektakula Promotions' "Battle of the Sexes" soca show at the Jean Pierre Complex, Mucurapo.

Around 3 a.m., the mother of three stopped for the friend to get out the vehicle and she was accosted by a gunman. She tried to drive off and a shot was fired.

Mohammed was hit in the right side of her chest. The friend is said to have run in the opposite direction.

Mohammed's maroon-coloured Almera vehicle was discovered crashed further along O'Meara Road. Her lifeless body was found slumped over the car's steering wheel.

Police believe attempted robbery is the motive behind Mohammed's murder.

Mohammed was the owner of Ishmael's Radiators, which is named after her husband, Ishmael Mohammed. The business is located below the family's home at Siewdass Street, El Socorro, San Juan.

Speaking with the Express yesterday, Ishmael described his wife as a "good and loving person, who loved to lime".

Mohammed said everyone would miss his wife because of her "pleasant personality", especially her son and two daughters.

He said a date for his wife's last rites had not been decided as yet, but the business will be closed for the rest of the week.

Investigations are continuing.
